Team Collaboration
Our group consists of four members- Anjana, Nitya, Sunjay and Sujal. When we first started out, all of us had one thing in common–computers. We were all extremely fascinated with computers and unanimously decided that our website would be about computers. But what about computers ?? Various ideas were thrown up, and finally we all decided upon one thing – evolution of computers. We were all very impressed with how computers evolved from being able to do just 500 additions in a few seconds to over a quadrillion computations at the same time.We wanted to know how computers would be in the future, how they would affect our lives. Finally having decided the topic, different jobs were given to different people.Sujal and Sunjay were in charge of web designing, as they were really good with stuff like that, and Anjana and Nitya became the team’s researchers. We had lots of fun getting to know more about the subject, meeting people, brainstorming, and reading books and surfing websites related to evolution of computers.Sujal did everything to do with flash and videos, and Sunjay worked on the designs and web layout etc.We had over 10 books and 98 websites to get information from, and Anjana and Nitya painstakingly went through each one of them, condensed the information and put it in their own words.Everything was very carefully planned and executed. Nitya even colour-coded the information! Anjana made set a deadline for everything and made sure that all out jobs were completed within the deadline,so we had plenty of time to review our work. After the information was collected, the boys got to work designing the website. All of us worked together and created a website which we’re all very proud of.We all worked extremely hard on this, and finally after 5 months, the website was ready. We faced several problems too- we all live pretty far away from each other, and could not communicate properly in school either, as we had our lessons to concentrate on.So we chatted online during the evenings to learn more about what each one of us had done.We had some arguments occasionally, but worked everything out in the end.Sometimes, the sheer volume of information frustrated us and we were glad that we had each other and could share and divide the work amongst ourselves. We were able to refine our language skills, communication skills, web designing skills etc. While making this website, we learnt about teamwork, collaboration, and certainly are much more knowledgeable than we were earlier! We had a blast creating this website–we got a whole lot of knowledge while having a whole lot of fun!
Team Diversity
The team is made up of different people with different ideas and beliefs, but with the same goal. While doing this project, each of the students got to know more about their partners, their cultures etc. Though the participants are from different socio-economic backgrounds, they pooled their resources together to get adequate information and materials to create the website. And though they belong to the same country, every one of them is from different states. Anjana is from Karnataka,Nitya is from Jharkhand, Sujal and Sunjay are from Kerala. And because of that, each one of them speaks a different language, has different cultures, beliefs etc.
The team coach, Mrs. A Leena made sure that all the work is being updated right on time and in correct format.
The team overcame several challenges to participate – not all of them had access to the internet, or were close to the libraries. Some of them had to travel over three kilometres to get to a browsing centre so that they could do their share and help complete the website. Other members of the team were luckier, they had easy access to the internet, had all the softwares required to create the website and had relatives and friends working in the Information Technology field.
Each one of the participants is dedicated, sincere and extremely hardworking. Despite all the cultural differences and the language barriers, the team got together and worked together to create and build the website.
