What Price, This Mountain?
Our site explains the truths, half-truths, and flat-out lies that occur the state or national government takes property from people. We have used three different pieces of media as main sections of our site which we think represent at least the three different views we encountered throughout our study. One of these was Grandpa's Mountain by Carolyn Reeder. This and the other pieces of media are all based on the Shenandoah National Park, where people once lived before being displaced when the park was created. We interviewed Carolyn Reeder, the Perdues (who have studied the Shenandoah National Park displacements for years), and Darwin Lambert, (who wrote The Undying Past of Shenandoah National Park and was the first employee of the National Park Service in the Shenandoah National Park.) We hope, by visiting our site, you understand the real story of the Shenandoah National Park and what happened to the people who lived there.
