Cataclysm: The Silent, Deadly Threat
1999
Our project focuses on the effects of a possibly cataclysmic collision of the earth with such potentially hazardous extraterrestrial objects as meteors, asteroids, and comets. With information on each of these foreign balls of fire, our webpage provides a description on their distinct structures and compositions, as well as an estimated likelihood of earth impact and the extent of its harm. Facts about past situations in which mass extinction, such as that of the dinosaurs, are given in hopes to provide readers with an idea of the immense consequences of a future collision and the mysterious disaster left in its aftermath. Pictures can be found throughout the site of the three near earth objects, the moment of impact, etc., while a short film depicting the effects of a local collision, just off the New York coast, is also shown. We hope to inform others of the seemingly non-existent threat of impact and the deadly yet uncontrollable disasters that result.
