Team Collaboration
The team worked together very well to complete the project and I am very proud of all the hard work they have done. I feel that we really addressed the question of the roles that art and science play in our lives very well and I am sure that our message has been succesfully communicated to those who read our page.
In fact, this team started quite late on the project... only a week before the deadline. I was afraid that they would not be able to pull together a good project on such short notice, especially since the week was full of tests for them and also due to the fact that this is our school's first time in joining this competition and we have no prior experience in joining the Think Quest Competition.
But our team pulled through, finally. All of the team members took valuable time to communicate with each other here on the Think Quest Page, and they also spent time to record some original music footage for the viewing pleasure of those who saw their website. Not to mention, they created a varied array of artwork specifically for this project! They really did a lot of work within a limited time period, and as a team, they practiced good organizational skills in dividing their time between the contest and their other activities.
But the team used their individual strengths as a whole to really pull through. Our teammates Nicole and Ophelia are both particularly good at arts, and take courses professionally. They both volunteered to make some artwork for the project, and we're sure that you will agree that the pictures are very well done indeed. Our teammate Jane is a Native English Speaker from Australia: she really worked well on typing a lot of the information for the project, as well as spending a lot of time to ensure full team participation through creating votes and brainstorms. Our teammate Renee is quite good at music, playing a wide range of instruments as well as having a lot of previous performance experience, and she took care to make sure that the Music section of this project was done as well as we could to ensure your full enjoyment of this project.
Also, our team as a whole really were able to execute the Narrative of this particular topic well because we had many talents that suited the given topic, as described above. It would take too many words to thank everyone on this project for all the hard work they have done. But by looking at our page itself, we are sure that the passion our team has put into it is nothing but obvious.
Team Diversity
Our team represents a wide range of backgrounds of all kinds. Our team members come from many countries: such as the Philippines, Canada, Australia, the United States and Hong Kong. Thus, we were able to have a large range of cultural opinions to put forward on this topic, and we also gave a lot of input of the importance of culture in our different countries! They can be very different in their cultural viewpoints: in the Philippines, being musical is a fact of life and music is heard every day from every one! But in places like Hong Kong, the importance of music is often overshadowed by the importance of money.
Our group is also musically and artistically diverse, which is another reason why we chose this topic of the influence of art and music in modern life. Two of our group members are in a rock band, and we also have a flautist, multiple pianists and guitarist, as well as a violinist. Our group members all have experience in performing music onstage as well as experience in international examinations such as the ones conducted by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
As for art, two of our members take art lessons professionally and are preparing for the IGCSE in Art. As for other forms of art, several members of our group have experience in dance and the dramatic arts such as theatre and public speaking.
Our website was enhanced by our cultural diversity as well as our deep knowledge of music and art, and the IMPORTANT roles they play in human lives.
Our members also come from different religious backgrounds, which we tried to put forward in our website through showing the role of art and music in developing religion. We have, in our team, three Roman Catholics, two Christians, and one atheist... perfect for being able to deliver a larger number of viewpoints on the topic of how art and music have affected our religious lives.
For surveys and interviews, we depended on a large range of age groups. We surveyed people at school, at home, and on the streets, thus giving the opportunity to a diverse range of people to share their opinions on this topic.
Our team is very diverse, in many ways, and we are certain that we have used this diversity in the fullestm through the showing of many opinions and viewpoints as well as facts to illustrate our ideas as effectively as possible. Our diversity has really helped us spread our message of the important roles that art and music play in our life, and we hope that those who will be able to view this project will really enjoy it and appreciate its diversity.
