Unsafe Sex = Pregnancy + STD’s

2009
This website is about sex and we separated our topics into three sections: teen pregnancy, STDs, and safe sex. In teen pregnancy, it talks about how hard it is for teens to be parents. In STDs, it explains the different diseases. In safe sex, it talks about different methods of birth control and how abstinence is a safe choice.

Team Collaboration

Team collaboration is what really has brought our team together. We have distributed all the parts of our website so that we can all have an input and manage our time wisely. We compared our strengths and weaknesses so that everyone would be comfortable with their contribution and make this an exceptional webpage. Our website is about sex and whether teen agers should be having it or not. It talks about pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and sex. These are important things to talk about because people, most importantly teen agers, need to know the different outcomes.

The team leader is Aileene; she is in charge of all of the organization for the group. She is also the one that is the strongest in Macromedia Flash; therefore, she is in charge of most of the flash effects. Aileen’s contribution toward the webpage is not only the flash, but also it introduces and enforces safe sex. She made three pages out of the webpage that encourage people to be precautious when being sexually active. The pages include information such as different methods a person can use to be safe, and other options such as abstinence.

Andrea’s contribution and main focus of this project is teen pregnancy. In the three web pages she built, you will find information about preventing teen pregnancy. She also talks about how hard life is after having a baby and how hard it is to survive this way.

My main concentration is Sexually transmitted diseases. I want to let everyone that is entering our site know the consequences of having unsafe sex, and what the outcomes can be. In the web pages I have created, I talk about herpes, Chlamydia, human paillomavirus, gonorrhea, and syphilis. My page will inform teen agers about the risks and why they should be having safe sex or even be abstinent.

The division of the work was very hard. We all thought we were doing more than the other, but in the end realized that we all had an equal share of work. When we all united the pages of our website we saw how it all came together. Our website has taken lots of time and we have worked very hard. Although we have had some arguments and hard times meeting deadlines, we have managed it all and have accomplished our goal. Our website is better than what we ever expected and it’s all because of our hard work. We know that we couldn’t have accomplished it without each other. This has been a great learning experience and our tem has successfully met our goal of creating an exciting, creative, and great site.

Team Diversity

Although we might think we are all very alike, the process of creating this website has taught us otherwise. We are all very different individuals that all bring different components into our website. Because of our different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, we have different opinions and have taken upon different roles in creating our think quest website.

The oldest team member is Aileene, she is 18 years old. Aileene was born in Arizona and lived there for about thirteen years. She comes from a Mexican background from both of her parents. Aileene’s biological parents are divorced; therefore she only has one older brother. Her mother was only 19 years old when she had Aileene; therefore she experienced her mother’s struggles. Because of that Aileene wants to inform young girls about safe sex and abstinence.

The youngest member is Andrea, she is 17 years old. Andrea was born and raised in Chicago. She comes from a Mexican American background. Her parents are also divorced but she has two younger sisters. She was also a product of teen pregnancy; her mother was sixteen when she was born. Andrea lived through the struggles of teen parents. Being a product of teen pregnancy and seeing the struggles a teen mother and father have to go through has shown her that she doesn’t want to follow in those footsteps. She feels that teens and people in general are going to have sex regardless of what adults might say to them; therefore if they continue to have sex they should at least have safe’ protected sex.Cindy is the second oldest in our group. Although she was also born in Chicago, she comes from a Guatemalan background. Cindy’s parents are still married and she has two younger siblings. Cindy’s parents were also young when she was born, her mother was twenty one. Cindy grew up in a house that’s very religious and informative. Therefore she knows a lot about one of the biggest consequences of sex—STD’s. She is in charge of informing the viewers of our website the terrible outcome of an STD and also talks about prevention.

As Andrea and Aileene work on this project with Cindy they have both kept in consideration that although the three of us aren’t completely different, we have learned to cooperate with each other. We have also noticed the different methods we all use to learn and create our website. During this project we did not have discussions or arguments, but we have learned that as a group we have to compromise regardless of the situation. Based on our personalities, we believe that our website has come along well and we are all very proud.
