Team Collaboration
All of the members of our team see this Thinkquest competition as an opportunity to improve ourselves in many ways. We seek to widen our knowledge, gain a collection unforgettable experience and, most of all, develop our skills in working in a team. We are a bunch of teenagers who have realised that teamwork is really the key to success.
Even so, it was not easy for the six of us to become the strongest team in the beginning. We are six distinct individuals who have never worked as a team before. Naturally, it took us quite a while before our mechanisms are synchronised with each other.
Since the start of the project, we made a mutual agreement to always be glad to help one another. This is especially important because each of us, being unique, have our own strengths and weaknesses. We noticed that we have our own ‘specialty’ area of the web development process. Therefore, initially each of us has assigned ourselves to the jobs that we feel matches our strengths best.
However, we also acknowledge that no matter how great we are at those specified matters, we will still need helping hands from our teammates. No one can work in his own bubble with no interference from the other. We contribute what we can to help achieve success for our team. There are times when one member’s superior experience and/or knowledge on a current problem will require he/she to step up and guide the rest. Nevertheless, we also know that most of the time our consistent and on the spot member behaviour is more important. We recognize that Together Everyone Achieves More.
Furthermore, each and every one of us try to do our personal best to meet the deadlines set to avoid delaying the team’s overall progress. We are happy to pull an all-nighter to complete our tasks in developing this project.
Team Diversity
Perhaps our team members are not scattered all around the world, but it doesn’t mean that there is no diversity in our team.
We are team Kanafe, a team of six Indonesian high school students who come from a same country but were raised and lived among various cultures and traditions. Ours is one of the most diverse countries in the world, consisting of thousands of islands, hundreds of ethnic groups, various beliefs, and strong traditions that’s why diversity is not something unusual for us, it has been a part of our life since the day we were born.
Our experiences come from different places all over the country and many countries abroad. One member of our team has studied in different countries for years; another member has lived in a lot of different places around the country; and most of us have experiences in joining competitions, trainings, and organizations in many different fields from science and students council to cooking and marketing.
Our website is focuses on Physics. Science and physics are universal. They are related no matter where we are or who we are. But, our diversity in experiences has taught us that there is a common misconception among children and teenagers all over the world. Most students consider physics as a hard and complicated subject while in fact physics is a science about what’s going on around us in our everyday life. Younger generations right now prefer learning through the use of games. So, why don’t we combine both of them to make young people learn physics in a way that they would love and accept?
Every member of this team have different talents and abilities. We combined them so they can complement each other. Aditiawan is a good leader who’s good at creating websites. Nathan is an awesome web designer. Evan has an expertise in creating animations. Firda is all about photo and picture editing while Kinantia and Agnes are English proficient and worked on the content of the website. Can we build this website without animation? Or can we build this website without content? Of course not! So, in order to create this website we need to unite our diverse abilities and every one of us complemented with each other.
We believe that diversity is a beautiful thing. Diversity makes the world goes round and diversity color up our life. We need to combine our differences and unite to be better. Our team has done it, why don’t you. Unity in diversity, don’t only shout it out but let’s do it now!
