Team Collaboration

Collaboration: to work jointly with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor. Collaboration was our initial thought when the words “group project” came out of Ms. Evans, our teacher’s mouth. But what is collaboration? Is it getting along with your group members--- or could it be not getting along at all but all dedicating yourself to the project with all eyes on the prize? To our group, collaboration means getting along and dedicating ourselves to hard work in order to complete said given task even if we don’t get the prize in the end. Sure we wanted to win, but we had to keep that in the back of our minds so that nothing, not even a prize, didn’t get in the way of making a legitimate website.

Our group worked very well together. And we are not saying that just so we could get that much closer to winning, but we say this because we actually did work well together. We were very supportive of each other and when something didn’t look quite right we were sure to be honest and help them fix it. We didn’t lie to each other…. I mean honestly that would just make our website that much worse. We had to be honest with each other in order to be successful. So when we had an issue with what one of our group members was doing, we had to be nice and considerate but also give constructive criticism. Which is something that we always did.

We know we aren’t the best at making websites, but we felt like we did a pretty good job for the most part… and we are pretty proud at how we did for the most part. And after all, people say “confidence is key.” Confidence is what made us realize that it’s not what so much other people think of our website, but it is indeed that if we think we did good then that is all we need to be successful. So by being supportive of each other and making sure that we really do like what we produced, then even if we do not win, we have made our goals in some sense. We decided that in order to make this website successfully, we had to cooperate with each other and make sure we are conscience and make sure that we are listening to each other’s words and advice. We had to take into deep consideration advice from our group members. Which was a good thing because then we could hear other people’s advice.

Collaboration: to work jointly with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor. Collaboration was our initial thought when the words “group project” came out of Ms. Evans, our teacher’s mouth. But what is collaboration? To us the word collaboration was more than just a word. It is a commitment to something greater.

Team Diversity

Diversity: The state or fact of being diverse; difference; or unlikeness. Our team “Couture Worldwide” created our website solely on diversity. Our team members, and our topic where both very diverse, from experiences, cultures, and traditions. Every person in our group drew from their own experiences and ideas to help our project become complete. All the members in our group come from very different backgrounds. Our project was completely about embracing diversity of different cultures and how different countries express themselves through fashion, and make up. Every culture has their own traditions and styles all very different from one another.

In the process of making our website we focused on the topics diversity. We gathered information from four different countries about their fashion and make up. All countries very different geographically as well as in religion, beliefs, traditions, social, and economically. Egypt, Kayan, Japan, and The United States of America were the countries we choose to focus on. All in very different locations in the world, making climate an issue for the types of clothing most suitable. Also the geography affected the supplies clothing could be made out of. Religion and beliefs, effects what is acceptable in these different countries. Traditions that have been carried on for hundreds of years, make a cultures fashion what it is today, in the new millennium. Economics also greatly affect a cultures fashion, what is affordable and even what can be hand-made effects what the countries clothing and make up is like.

Our teams diversity also helped create this website; each of our group members comes from very different backgrounds. Each has lived in many different states over the years, making our variety of cultural experiences very different. Also between all of our group members and the traveling we have done separately over years has made us very aware of other cultures and different things. Traveling and being aware of other cultures has made us very accepting to anything different, and wanting to learn anything new about anything different that we aren’t used to helped making this site enjoyable and increasing our knowledge of different cultures.

Diversity made our group work stronger together and was also the main inspiration for what our topic was.
