HEALTHYacs

2009
Using this project, we want to help people understand that it's important for them to lead a healthy life. The real problems that this project presents are that people care less about their own health, or don't really know what to do for a healthy way of living. For example, lots of adults have no time for breakfast or lunch and skip it, then eating junk food in their car, avoiding exercises. More and more of these bad habits extend to teenagers. If we are to cut it short, we want to make a difference and point out the fact that people have to respect themselves, we are what we eat! The main themes this project talks about are: English language (since the project is in English and English is a second language to us), biology (health and safety), chemistry (food and substances), civic and sanitary education, art, and last but not least, computer science. What we are expecting or realize with this project? We want to help people to eat healthier ,to be more ecological and by these two facts presented we want to make everybody open their eyes and minds and see that eating healthier not only helps your body and mind but also helps the whole world .How?Hmmm..By eating healthier we don’t waste oil and many naturals’ resources as by becoming vegetarians we don’t kill animals. So, if you are with us, you will help us make the world a better place. We want to accomplish lots of important things, but to start with we want to make YOU, yes, YOU lead a healthier life. The knowledge we gained came from school, the Internet, books and magazines in the theme. Even the shops were on our side supporting healthy living, the streets with posters, even a kid eating a fruit salad. We believe information is everywhere around us. We spread dissemination activities with the students in our school, but also with outside people. There were debates organised about this project with teachers and specialists. To start with, we are going to make friend all over the world and spread the word. Briefly, the next thing we have in plan is completing a series of projects in order to explain and make sure people fully understand the good parts of healthy eating. Furthermore, we will take quizzes in order to find out what other people think and do about healthy living. In conclusion, after finding out if and how people act and feel about healthy living, we are going to send e-cards and other materials all around. We will start by making small changes, in our families, then we will change our classmates’ opinion, another change would be the one in the community, then we will go global! Step by step we will accomplish greater targets! All these being said, we hope to make you join a healthy life, join our project, join the world. Join HEALTHYacs!!!

Team Collaboration

Organization was a vital piece of our teamwork puzzle. We’ve chosen our leader to coordinate our work, according to pre- ferences, languages, studies and last, our personal way of

being, our attitude. An important piece of this puzzle was the right of choosing. Now,We discuss the importance of each member in this project.Because we all did a little and all these little parts made up a big project.Aleksa is the leader of our team. She coordinated us and gave us some ideas about how can we improve our work, talked about the importance of a healthy mind and the advantages and disadvantages of practising sport

“Be healthy and think healthy"just like our motto, she says. She also told us about team and our targets, how we can help nature and ourselves by using healthy clothes.Next,Ann,she wrote about vitamins and their role in our live. She also told you about the importance of mental health and happiness and added some great pictures.Ann gives you a piece of advice:“Be happy.

Say no to stress!”.She told us how we can help nature and

ourselves by using healthy clothes.Alexandra goes next. She gave facts about health and even more facts about vitamins. She has a“Meet us!”page and wrote great things about sport. She told you things about mental health and also has a rubric about“Health and Safety”.Hoang Anh goes next. She has great pictures of us in action and a great quiz you ought to check out.“We believe in giving an example to our followers. If you see us living healthy, you may try to live healthy as well” she says. Now,last but not least, the only boy in our team,Nam.Let’s

just let him present himself.“I’m the only boy of HEALTHYacs team, and being the only boy on the team had to work very hard and so I did. What is my role in it?So,I talked about the team and its members and about what can you do to lead a healthy life.I am the one that tells you where to get your energy from and I advice you to practice sports and not consume drugs or alcohol.”You might say he worked a lot,but all of us worked really hard and all of us kept the project going, going, gone International. But,like everywhere else, you faced some difficulties. We’ll tell you how we managed to get right back on track.First,we admitted the fact that we have a problem.

Then, while we respected each others opinion we took action and finally solved it.We also made great friends, between us and global. We tied long-lasting friendships between the members and discussed certain issues with our colleagues all around the globe. In a nutshell, this project opened our minds to certain issues,we gained experience and knowledge.

Team Diversity

“Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common.

Celebrate it every day.” says an anonymous quoter.

Well, diversity was the spice of our team, of our project, and surely is the spice of our life. We are all like a rich tapestry, and we all are of the same importance, no matter our colour.

Now, our team surely had some “Asiatic spice” and diversity from all points of view, from religion to culture, from experience to hobbies, from way of thinking to preferences in matter of tasks.

Let’s take them step by step, point by point.

All our team members are different, Hoang Ankh and Van Nam are Buddhists and have and Asiatic culture, while the three of us (Alexandra, Aleksa, Ann) are Christian and of European culture. By hobbies and way of thinking, well that’s a subject we ought to discuss.

Let’s take Hoang Ankh first. She has a white, little, cute rabbit. She enjoys taking care of him and as she says, “My rabbit is a great example of eating healthy. It only eats veggies and fruits; he is so clean and safe. I adore him.”

Ann now. Ann owns a loveable creamy shy Tzu, called Coockie. She always gives him long strolls, and: “While I take him for a walk, I always take pictures of the nature and of him in it. So I guess you can say he did this part in the project.”

Well, what about Alexandra? She has and adorable, intelligent (and pretty wild, in the good manner) cat named Sasha. “Sasha is really sporty and helps me with my exercises; she gave me some great ideas for the project”

Now, Aleksa, well she is vegetarian and very close to becoming a healthy-biology-obsessed freak. “The bad thing about this is that I actually laugh at my own hobbies. I mean, who likes biology except me?”

Van Nam is obsessed as well, but with sports. Between tennis and soccer… there’s no limit! “I love running, it makes me feel free. I practice tennis about 3 hours every 2 days. I’ll become a professional player soon.”

Well, that’s mainly it.

Still, we must tell you how diversity helped us. Firstly, it opened our minds to different cultures and religions and helps us share our knowledge. We’ve learned how to practice yoga from Nam and Hoang Ankh and they’ve learned other European sports.

Our friendship got even tighter as we’ve learned each other’s hobbies and realised the differences between us, differences that made working on this project fun, differences mean diversity.
