The United States Facts Page
2001
The project that the LP3 team decided to do was a State Facts Page. Our site is made up of 107 separate web pages, with 240 pictures, 119 music files, and 4 movies. On this site, the user can learn facts about each state by clicking on an interactive map of the United States. When the mouse pointer passes over the image of the state on the map, the full state name pops up and the user has the option of clicking on that state. When the user clicks on a state, they are taken to a separate page containing information about that state. The information includes the date the state joined the union, the state bird and flower, the current time in that time zone, an animated version of the state flag and a midi version of the state song. There are also pages for the entire United States and its territories, such as Puerto Rico. Then the user may engage in several interactive activities such as State Hangman, a state facts trivia game, an interactive puzzle of the Statue of Liberty and two state word searches. The user also has the option of e-mailing the team or using the guest book in order to share stories and/or opinions about their respective states. We believe that the educational value of this site is clearly to educate the user about the fifty United States and territories, their various facts, and to provide enough interactive edutainment to warrant a return visit.
