The Cyber Battle

2009
In recent times, the hit rate of viruses and hacking has gone up to its highest. Our website is developed to create awareness among people on the working of a virus and its harmful effects when it infects the PC.We also included how the antivirus counterattacks the virus and ensures safe data protection among the millions of PCs around the world.

Team Collaboration

The Project of the topic Mechanism of Virus and Antivirus was unanimously accepted by all the team members as it was a concerning issue in the present times. All the members took interest in collecting information, and studying about the topic. While basic knowledge was required, all of us took active interest in learning about the topic and also interacting with other people to know more about it. Developing the project involved of course collecting the information from sources. We enjoyed meeting different people and also drawing their opinions and clearing their genuine doubts. When we first started on this project, the share of work was non uniform but once the goal was clear, we knew what to do. All of us collected the data from different sources and people over a period of three months. Here we faced some communication problems while collecting information from our resources. We then worked out the problems through different methods. After the information was ready, we put up a brainstorm of ideas and first worked out all the sketches of the pages. Next the multimedia had to be taken care of. Shanmugam realised his potential in developing flash animations then Varshanth gave him the ideas and sketches for the flash and Shanmugam did the rest, adding some ideas on this own. The basic concept of flash was adopted to visually represent the topic of mechanism of virus and antivirus and for making the concept of Virus and Antivirus clear. The site planning and execution was done by Varshanth. He had some basic knowledge of HTML and web designing. Now Madhusudhana's creativity came into picture and he and Varshanth started designing the banners and logos. After having all the raw materials,we had to organize and sub divide it. This process involved careful planning and organization of the raw materials and application of the basic knowledge of the topic. Varshanth mapped the information into the web pages and Madhusudhana created the interactive banners and links that. Finally when we had the basic framework with the required data, we added more interaction to the website. The last part to publish the website was carried out and the website was created, thus having the unique fingerprints of all of us. We thoroughly enjoyed developing this project and it was a good experience for us. This topic of Virus & Antivirus is a growing concern in recent times with the rise cyber crimes. All of us put our heads together and developed this project with the aim to reduce the impact of the computer viruses in the cyber society

Team Diversity

Our team consists of members who are eager to revolutionize the cyberworld with solutions to cyber crime and also the terror and torment caused by viruses. Although we have different view points and ideas, our goal was one and the same.We did not have to go far for this, among ourselves, we had different ideas for the project and also different ways of executing it. When we discussed this among ourselves, we came up with a compromise and finally decided which way to follow up on our ideas in an organized fashion. While collecting information also, many of our sources did not know English, thus a communication problem developed. Here we had to somehow identify his doubts and answer to his questions, we used different methods such as drawings and visual representation to make them understand. This occurred when we were taking the survey also. When we explained a general concept of the mechanism of virus and antivirus, they did not understand the concept clearly as we communicated in different languages. We finally showed them the effects of a virus visually by plotting sketches and by inter mixing some languages. This was really a challenge to do because some of them misunderstood the concept. Finally when the concept was clear to them, we started on the subject of the survey i.e their doubts and questions they posed to us. One of the contestants in the survey was an Iranian PhD Student; it was quite interesting to hear about his experiences regarding the impact of the computer virus in the Iranian Society. Now we realized that different cultured people face almost the same problems we face everyday. It became more crucial to raise awareness and to make the different people understand what is happening and what they contribute to the downfall of viruses. We realized that common factors like knowledge and similar problems faced by people of different cultures weaved the base for national unity. Thus we proceeded with the development of the project with more enthusiasm and interest. We realized that diversity in our resources was quite important for a worldwide revolution such as The Cyber Battle to take place successfully.
