Lighthouses- Road Signs of the Oceans

Our state of North Carolina has been working to move a very important lighthouse on our coast, The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The team became very interested in that move and wondered about lighthouses around the world. They wondered if any of them were in danger also. They decided to create a web site about lighthouses around the world so that they would learn more and might share that information with others. The educational objectives for the project included the following: 1. that the learners would demonstrate higher level thinking skills 2. that the learners would explore a wide range of resources and interact in an information intense environment 3. that the learners would identify and apply strategies to access, evaluate, use, and communicate information 4. that the learners would develop an understanding of and appreciation for the development of history and its impact on their lives.
