Angel Island

2001
From 1910-1940, Angel Island served as a point of entry for a majority of Chinese immigrants coming from the East to the West. People coming to America saw it as the gateway to success and riches, but no sooner had they set foot onto the land, reality shattered these hopes and dreams. Denied their entry, the Chinese were detained on this island for as long as two years, frozen between their two worlds. This website aims to educate visitors about the struggle endured for immigration through unveiling the history and experiences of the Chinese immigrants.
