Telegraphs: Sounds of the Past

This site is designed to allow children to explore the history of the telegraph and the science of electricity. The site came from a project one of the students on the team did after hearing the story of Dear Mr. Henshaw in the main character builds a bugler alarm in his lunch bag. The student then built the buglar alarm and went on to telegrahs. This is an interactive site which allows children to hear sound and match them to the visual code, review the historical timeline for the telegraph, and obtain directions for constructing a telegraph. The site lets students view sound patterns and invites them to be inquisitive.
