Geometry for All

1999
Do you think high school geometry is only about completing two-column proofs? Whether you are a student taking geometry now, a student that has already had geometry, or a teacher, if you said yes to the first question, then you are in the majority. This web page has been designed to showcase a few geometry activities that demonstrate that geometry can be so much more-more related to real life, more hands-on, and more fun! The activities can be used by students themselves to help them understand geometry better or can be used by a teacher with the entire class. These activities have been tried and tested in actual classrooms and found to be very interesting, student engaging, and beneficial in helping students understand the concepts and make much needed connections to the real world. These sample activities are a part of a larger project. Our Think Quest coach, Lisa Willian, is developing a CD of geometry activities to help students throughout the state of Kentucky to understand geometry better. The Christa McAuliffe Fellowship funded this project. This web page was created to both share activities as well as give other students and teachers an opportunity to share with our team on this important geometry project. It has been a valuable learning experience for our team as we learned how to make a web page, program the graphics, etc. needed to create our Think Quest entry.
