Team Collaboration
After deciding on the topic of wireless technology, our team has planned a workload chart to provide an overview of the work to be done before commencing on our project. With this workload chart, we decided on the topics we wanted to cover so that we can manage our time well. As each of our group members has different strengths in the areas related to the building of a website, our team divided the tasks with Hairiandy and Li Yuan being the brains behind the website design while Guo Hong tackled the coding. Surin and Stacy were in charge of any research related material while Bai Sheng edited the work according to the team’s needs.
During the process of research, we faced several problems. For instance, we had gathered too much information. In order to prevent information overload and make our website appealing to students, we selected only the relevant points and summarized it. As we were unsure if some of the information were necessary, we discussed our problems with one another and even consulted the teacher-in–charge for this competition. In addition, we decided to restructure our plans due to unforeseen circumstances. For instance, instead of interviewing a renowned IT specialist, we figured that conducting interviews among ourselves would be a better alternative as we would be able to provide different views on wireless technology in our website. Besides the regular group meetings in school, our group also checked one another’s progress through emails as well. Although it is inevitable to have conflicting ideas during discussions, our group overcame the problem by settling our differences peacefully. Through this competition, we have learnt that values such as the teamwork and cooperation are essential in order to succeed.
Team Diversity
Even though our group consists solely of members from the same institution we have a diverse spread of diplomas, ranging from diploma in Information Technology to Interactive Media Informatics to Financial Business Informatics, not only giving us a wider view on the various topics concerning our website’s subject but also the variety of skills needed to make this website. For instance, being in the diploma in Information Technology and Interactive Media Informatics equips us with the necessary programming skills needed in building a website, and the diploma in Financial Business Informatics also allows us to display our analytical skills in the website, analyzing different sides on the topic of wireless technology such as its pros and cons. In addition, our website provides different perspectives on Wireless Technology with our team’s diverse religious backgrounds including Muslim, Christianity and Buddhism, giving us a competitive edge over others. Our group also consists of different nationalities with Li Yuan from China and the majority of us from Singapore. Based on Li Yuan’s experience in China, she is able to provide us with a different perspective on wireless technology. Despite the fact that this was the first time we worked together, we tried to understand one another and cooperated to complete the website together.
