Bipolar disorder affects the brain so that unusual shifts causes episodes of mania and depression. These shifts in mood can cause damage in one's personal and work life. This disorder affects 2.4 million adults in the United States. This disorder may affect anyone, no matter the sex, race, and/or religion. The bipolar disorder becomes evident during the early adulthood of a person. The disorder is also a long-term illness that can be managed like diabetes. Different symptoms occur at multiple stages of the disorder resulting in instantaneous reactions. These reactions can result in careless decisions to the extreme of suicide. Bipolarism is often a neglected disorder in our society due to ignorance. People with bipolar disorder can be treated to live an average life.
