A World of Diversity is an educational web site about the ecology and biodiversity the world has to offer. This web site focuses on giving a cumulative overview of Ecology, and the processes which drive ecosystems. The overview of ecology is reinforced by an in-depth look at four distinct ecosystems, the Willapa Bay estuary, the tide pools of the Pacific Coast, Mount St. Helens and the rainforests of Ecuador. By learning about these diverse and unique ecosystems users will be able to see how the science of ecology is acted out each day around them. After gaining an understanding of ecology users are encouraged to learn more about the ecosystems near their own hometown. This can be accomplished through independent research or by following one of our predesigned labs. The information which users collect can be submitted to A World of Diversity and will be added to the website. Additionally A World of Diversity can be used for students who wish to meet someone from across the world and discuss topics such as global warming or work on a similar ecological study to find the distinct differences in two separate ecosystems. Users are able to have discussions through the community chat, or messages left on our community forum. A World of Diversity offers many avenues to learn about the richness of life the world has to offer.
