You Be The Change

2009
Our website seeks to educate young people about the very real issue of global warming and going green. Although a serious issue, we have tried to create a site that is entertaining and educational at the same time. Incorporating videos, games, and other interactive formats, we hope this site encourages people to become informed and make a difference.

Team Collaboration

Collaboration

Our Go Green team is comprised of team members from USA and India. Our team used different means to successfully collaborate between each member. Our main channel of communication was through emails. In addition, we also used Instant Messaging and phone calls to keep each other appraised on the development of the website. Despite the time difference between India and USA, we worked diligently to share and compile all the project related information. We also met every Friday at Borders Book Store to brainstorm some of our ideas and also look for resources.

Our Team

Adi was instrumental in coordinating, compiling information, and developing the website. In addition he also did research on some of the topics

Eeshha was instrumental in designing some of the graphics, story writing, and research on some of the topics

Henry was instrumental in researching most of the Going Green topics. He also worked on the Flash Intro.

Marc was instrumental in coming up with creative ways to present information. In addition, he did research on “The Affects” topics

Mike was instrumental in researching Energy related topics. In addition, he also worked on Pollution.

Rujuta was instrumental in designing most of the graphics. In addition, she also worked on Rain Harvesting and Living Green topics including interviews.

Our Coaches

Mark, our Primary Coach, and Anagha, our Assistant Coach and Content Advisor, provided tremendous support, guidance, and vision to our team.

Team Diversity

Our team was diverse in several areas. We consisted of six team members ranging from ages 11 to 14. Adi, Mike, Marc, and Henry all live in the U.S. while Rujuta and Eeshha reside in India.

Having team members from different countries allowed the team to understand global warming from different perspectives. Rujuta and Eeshha were able to contribute pictures of pollution in their country and ideas for alternative heating used in India. They also were the artists of the team, providing most of the drawings you see on the website, including the header and from India and the illustrated stories.

Adi was our expert in all things ThinkQuest, as he was the only member to have participated in the competition in the past. He provided invaluable insight and kept everyone on task with his tremendous organizational skills. He also had the most expertise in web design, and spent countless hours honing his skills.

Marc’s largest contribution was gathering survey data and creating pie charts to represent the information. He has a strong math background and was able to create these charts with relative ease.

Mike conducted research on the pollution topic as well as energy saving products. His excellent writing ability was a great benefit to the team.

Henry, our youngest member, has had some background with web design and the flash program. He developed the flash introduction for the sight and was one of our video editors for the skit on the opening page. He also created a PowerPoint presentation to use in our games section.
