What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this project, we thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. We thought that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith. However, we discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much more complex and controversial issue than we had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple definition. We wanted our viewers to come to this same understanding. Therefore, we have formulated our own definition of religious persecution. It is the persecution of individuals within a group in the struggle to maintain their religious identity, or the abuse of power by an individual or organization that causes members of a religious group to suffer. Within this website, we explore the complexity of religious persecution, based on our new definition, through in-depth studies of three cases: The Holocaust, China in Tibet, and the Sikhs versus the Indian government.

In our pages we look at various aspects of ancient paganism such as ancient Roman and Greek religions as well as doing several comparisons on ancient forms of paganism and their modern counterparts. Our entry will be about the St. James Way in Spain, and part of Europe. Our web site will be divided into the following sections: The Way at glance, which will be a brief description of it. A map of the Way; Regions, towns and villages through which the Way goes, and their people, culture, gastronomy, traditions; Legends from the Way (tales from pilgrims; Art of the Way (Cathedrals in cities, hermitages). We will also include a "Pilgrims guide", in order to help possible pilgrims to plan their trip, including lodgings, medical services, etc. And the last section will be the "Pilgrims diary", in which we will include experiences from pilgrims that have gone across the Way, and the possibility to have real time testimonies from other pilgrims who could be going to St James of Compostela. We will make the entry in two languages: English and Spanish, because we think that many of the visitors of the entry will be Spanish.
