Our web page provides information about early American Pioneers who traveled to the frontiers. It gives detailed information about 1) who the pioneers were, 2) why they traveled to the frontiers, 3) where they traveled to, 4) some of the trails they used, 5) the transportation they used, 6) the supplies and utensils they took with them on their journey,7) the wagon train and its wagon master, scout, and captain, 8) the adventures the pioneers had on the trails, and 9) their lives at their new homes. The page also has activities including, recipes, pioneer music, and projects other students can make. We have included interactive quizzes about the covered wagon and pioneer music. In addition the page provides a list of children's books about pioneers and a detailed description of the book _Rebecca of Blossom Prairie_ along with an interview of the author. The project that the LP3 team decided to do was a State Facts Page. Our site is made up of 107 separate web pages, with 240 pictures, 119 music files, and 4 movies. On this site, the user can learn facts about each state by clicking on an interactive map of the United States. When the mouse pointer passes over the image of the state on the map, the full state name pops up and the user has the option of clicking on that state. When the user clicks on a state, they are taken to a separate page containing information about that state. The information includes the date the state joined the union, the state bird and flower, the current time in that time zone, an animated version of the state flag and a midi version of the state song. There are also pages for the entire United States and its territories, such as Puerto Rico. Then the user may engage in several interactive activities such as State Hangman, a state facts trivia game, an interactive puzzle of the Statue of Liberty and two state word searches. The user also has the option of e-mailing the team or using the guest book in order to share stories and/or opinions about their respective states. We believe that the educational value of this site is clearly to educate the user about the fifty United States and territories, their various facts, and to provide enough interactive edutainment to warrant a return visit.

Separating two world wars, the 1920's followed events such as the sinking of the Titanic (1912), the invention of stainless steel (1913), and the completion of the Panama Canal (1914). The Roaring Twenties would have their own share of excitement and wonder as well - the Treaty of Versailles ended World War I, penicillin was discovered, and the Sultan of Swat hit 60 home runs. These events were and still are significant, but they reflect only a small portion of the full story.

In 1939, an artist named Jack Frost wrote a book
entitled "A Cape Cod Sketchbook". This book contains
over 60 pen and ink sketches of places on Cape Cod,
Massachusetts. Each of us live in a different town
on the Cape, ad we wanted to teach other kids about
our towns' landmarks and histories, and also learn a
little bit about each other's towns, too.Our team revisited many of the places drawn, take new pictures, and share the original pen and ink drawings
and the new digital pictures with everyone who visits
the Web site. By adding additional, historical information about the
landmarks, we hope to share a bit of Cape Cod's history
with students around the world. We hope this will encourage
other students to make Web sites about the history of
their own town, city, or region.

Maybe we can all learn about each other's state this way. It would be more fun!

We hope that many people will see this site and find out about the cool things to do. With millions of tourist visiting this city, we think people should post more pages on tourism for kids. I (Will Pryor) know that when I took a trip to Canada I had a lot of fun because I had planned where I wanted to go and I that's where my family and I went. Amanda and I had a lot offun making the site, learning all about HTML programming and FTPing our work. I would like to thank my partners in this program (Amanda and my coach), and also team 4658, our friends, Catherine and Erin. There's so much to know about New York. It's part of our curriculum, so it's educational -- but this town is really fun. About this site

We would like kids all over the USA to learn about their state and other states in a more memorable, unique, and even personal way than the usual textbook and classroom lectures afford. Also, we are assuming that many of the state facts sent will be from students who live in the very state being addressed. This certainly adds credibility to the information and motivation to the learner. All of these factors truly personalize the learning process for students. We planned this website to create a relevancy and motivation for learning about the USA. We also planned it to create the feeling that friendships between the states are being made as learning about the states is taking place. We think no other medium can meet these goals as well as the WWW and, we think our website takes full advantage of this fact. Additionally, we designed our website to be easy for young students to grasp the information presented. We chose not to load each page with too much information. However, we provided two excellent links for them to explore, if more detail is needed. In conclusion, our State College website was meant for kids to have fun while learning about their country and about others.
