The world of finance is not just for adults, kids can take part in it also. We tried to create a fun way of looking at the world of finance for kids between the ages of 8-12, The steps to learning finance and business are not as hard for children to learn as they are for adults, but they are challenging. We hoped that once kids got involved in their own finances, that they would find that learning about business, when you are a kid, could become a valuable resource when you become an adult. The world of finance is not just doing paper work. It can be very fun to learn, and once you get the hang of it, it will become second nature.

This project on moneyaround theworld was an optional way to do their research project. This project incorporates the 3 "T's" - what some say has replaced the 3 "R's" in education. Those 3 "T's" are Technology, Teamwork and Thinking. In order to be successful in this day and age, students must be adept at all three. The parents of my students, as well as the technology department of my district, are in wholehearted support of these objectives. In addition to the skills the students have learned, the parents of my students also feel that their children have learned very valuable, life-long lessons as well.

Economics is integrated into all subject areas in our fifth grade classes. The students have shown a keen interest in business as a result of participating in a program called Mini-Society. It was their opinion that all kids should have the opportunity to learn how to start a business. The page takes students through the steps necessary to do so. The page will be an excellent tool for the teachers in addressing the business aspect of economics. Although it does not go into the ingrating of other subject areas, it is a place that kids can see the big picture aspect of the starting of a business. The entry includes basic vocabulary needed to understand business, a business plan to get started, links to go the "extra mile" and a game to reinforce the learning.
