This website was created in the defense of Upward Bound and all other associated programs with TRiO. Sadly the President of the United States has decided to say that money is more important than education. Because of the proposed Fiscal Year 2006 budget, Upward Bound will cease to exist if there is no action taken. We would like you to view what Upward Bound is from the students' eyes, and hopefully you can pass it on to the President.

Our entry is an educational website devoted to teaching high school level genetics, through a varitey of techniques. Adapted from common student resources, our lesson plan provides a thorough description of each genetic concept in its relavance to a normal biology course. Along with a carefully crafted text portion, each section is accomplanied by an interactive quiz designed specifically for reinforcement of learned information and skills. There is also an extensive glossary of all relevant terms, which is greatly crossreferenced. One is able to set up an account that would allow students to record quiz scores. There is also a review section that contains all of the quizes, as well as an additional 40 genetics questions adapted from the latest New York State Regents Examinations. Our site also provides a message board for students, a manner of contacting us, and a search engine that will find all relevant pages a specific term is applied.

Education is often considered as the key to human progress, providing young children with sufficient skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Yet, as we enter the technological age of the 21st century, our current education system which places much emphasis on rote learning and regurgitation is proving to be inadequate in enabling students to cope with the changing facades of everyday life. The purpose of creating this web page is to educate the visitors on learning and education. Through an informative web page, we hope to bring to people a greater understanding on the different aspects of education and the process of learning, which are interwoven in our everyday life. The web page will be useful for students, teachers and parents due to the scope of information we will be providing. We hope to achieve the objective of coming up with an educational web page where people will get to learn something new and obtain help in any problems they encounter in the process of learning.

In short, a person who uses food to cope with life's stresses has an eating disorder. Major eating disorders to have emerged are anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and compulsive eating. Anorexia and bulimia are particularly prominent among women, who wish to be slim and slender like their idols on TV. This is a serious problem that should not be overlooked, and steps should be undertaken to resolve these eating disorders. Our aim of setting up this website is to provide a detailed site where people can identify and recognise these problems, and the symptoms and the resulting problems. Suggested remedies are also included to enable a person suffering from such eating disorders to obtain help. The Entry "Sailing Vessels" has two variants: one written in English and another written in Russian. First was created in Russian, bacause the idea belongs to the Russian students Mishurin Alexander and Zelensky Evgeny of the 10 grade, Omsk, That's why this part of the sight is more informative, it contains the history of building both Russian and foreign sailing vessels, it also has the following articles: Morse code, sea terms dictonary, a puzzle, funny stories connected with sea, folk signs to forecast the weather and others. The sight describes the most ressels, dimensions, their structure, euipment and different types of sails. The English version is not so detailed. It describes only the beginning and development of Russian sailing shipbuilding from simple rowing vessels of Kiev Russia (1136) up to the latest models of Ekaterina's epoch, XIX century. We think it would be interesting for the foreign students to learn some facts especially from the Russian history. The sight represents the full discription of each ship, the history of its designedand building, the essence of the given name, some information about famous people, who commanded those ships, and the historic battles in which they participated. The same part of the sight has the article "Make It Yourself" which describes how to make the vessel model your self.

This plant is regarded as a gift of the gods by some people while to others it is regarded as one of the worst aquatic alien invaders that must be eradicated at all costs. It has spread throughout the world crippling the rivers and lakes in many countries. Africa is particularly badly affected. Many people are unaware that the massive growth of water hyacinth is a direct result of man - we pollute the rivers and water hyacinth thrives on the nitrate rich waters. All around people are beginning to use this plant as a resource for self help schemes. It is a valuable plant that is being used to purify polluted water. Our attitude to this noxious weed has changed since we started this project. We believe that one has to look at the cause of the problem which is pollution. When the nations in Africa and the world work together to sort this out, only then will water hyacinth be brought under control. We have come to believe that the symptom which is the water hyacinth should be utilised effectively.

The goal of this webpage is to encourage new and help future exchange students. There is an overview of different exchange programs available and a brief checklist about what somebody should do before leaving home. To give other students an idea how it is to spend a year abroad in the US we wrote down our own experiences and collected comments and opinions from other exchange students, hostfamilies and organization employees. In addition we compared the USA with our homecountry Switzerland and took a close look at the American schoolsystem.

The aim of World Wide Education is to create an international center of exchange and communication among teachers and students from all over the world during the months and years to come. World Wide Education is intent on offering a complete database about Education around the world, and on providing a description of the educational system and general facts about (geographical, economical and cultural) of 35 different countries. Because we know that points of view about current events differ according to age category, World Wide Education offers a section called "News" where students can post their stories and perspectives concerning world news and important issues. Meeting Places provides a forum and a billboard to enable exchanges of ideas and discussions. The billboard is an important feature for schools in their international exchanges with other schools, allowing them to post their e-mails and addresses, as well as the kinds of exchanges they would like to establish. Interested schools can simply reply via e-mail.
