Have you ever wondered about the things you eat for dinner? Where do they come from? Is there any kind of story or legend behind the food you eat everyday?
This site is about Chinese food and its customs. It's a topic that few people seem to know about. Even some Chinese people may not know about these customs themselves. Also, we have noticed that there isn't much information on this topic, whether it's in books, on the Internet, or just some little bit of information in the cookbooks. The few books and stuff about this topic that can be read by foreigners aren't really up to date, and some of the concepts aren't totally correct. The books in Chinese aren't any better off. They are hard to understand, and, I'm afraid, quite boring. The aim of this site is to let more people know about and understand Chinese food and its customs in a fun and easy-to-learn way.
We hope you'll like this site and know more about the various Chinese customs after you've been here.

We decided to desig a web page on coffee since Tana's
mother works in a coffee shop, and more kids are drinking
coffee because of the caffeine effect. We spent
hours on Internet looking for coffee web sites, but everything
we found was associated with buying coffee from a business
or it was difficult to understand. Therefore, we decided
that our project would not only give information about coffee,
but would also be fun to read. We talked about how coffee
berries become coffee through diary entries. We also told
about the history of coffee and gave little known facts about
coffee. We explained the difference between the major
types of coffee that kids are drinking or that they hear
about the most. Other topics we researched included how
caffeine affects your body and your sleep. We included a
hand-drawn map that shows the major places coffee
is produced and a hand-drawn graph of the top ten coffee
producing countries.
Our educational objectives for this project were:
Learn to use PageMill (a web-authoring program)
Design informative web pages based on curriculum
taught to fourth-sixth graders in California. Coffee and
caffeine are discussed in the 4th - 6th grade
Drug Awareness Program in California.
Learn to use a scanner and digital camera
Learn to search for information using a variety of
sources - Internet, books, interviews, etc.
Learn how to create web page backgrounds
Learn how to organize our time and work together as a team
