Search for Projects
You can view any project in the ThinkQuest Projects community, but you can only request to join projects with Open Membership.
To search for projects:
- To view all projects, click the World tab. Or, to view only projects with members from your school, click the My School tab. (Note that members from schools that do not have access to the World Community do not have access to the World tab.)
- You can search for a project in several ways:
- Keyword: In the search field at the top of the page, enter up to ten keywords and click Search. On the search results page, click any of the links on the left to narrow results by sub-category, age range, country, or activity. Check the "Open Memberships Only" box to display only projects that have Open Membership.
- Active Projects: The "Active Projects" section lists projects with recent activity. Check the "Open Memberships Only" box to display only projects that have Open Membership.
- Category: Click any of the categories (such as "Arts & Entertainment" or "Books & Literature") in the center of the page to see a list of related projects. The number next to the category indicates how many projects are in that category.
- Organizations: Click the "Organizations" link at the bottom of the World page to see projects managed by educational organizations that have partnered with the Oracle Education Foundation.
- Spotlight: The upper right corner of the page features spotlights that link to exemplary projects selected by Oracle Education Foundation Staff.
- Click the title of a project to view the project summary page, which contains details about the project.

You can only request to join a project with Open Membership.
To request to join a project as a teacher member:
- Go to the project summary page.
- Click the Join button.
- Enter the reason you would like to join.

Request to Join a Project as a Student Member
You can only request to join a project if it has Open Membership and you are within the project's age range.
To request to join a project that already has a teacher from your school:
- Go to the project summary page.
- Click the Join button.
- Enter the reason you would like to join.
- Click the Submit button. Your request will be sent to the teacher member from your school.
- Once the teacher from your school accepts your request, you will receive a message confirming that you are now a member of the project.
To request to join a project that does not have a teacher from your school:
- Go to the project summary page.
- Click the Join button.
- Enter the reason you would like to join.
- Because there are no teachers from your school in the project already, you will need to ask a teacher from your school to join with you by choosing a name from the "Choose a Teacher" menu.
- Click the Submit button. A request will be sent to your teacher.
- Once your teacher accepts your request, another request will be sent to the project's Coach.
- Once the Coach accepts your teacher's request, you and your teacher will receive messages confirming that you are both members of the project.
