FAQ

What is a project?

A project is a space where ThinkQuest Projects members use simple tools to co-author web pages and share ideas on a specific topic. Members can collaborate on projects within their classroom or with other schools globally. View the Projects Overview section for more details.

How can I use projects in my classroom?

View the Projects Overview section to learn more about how you can use projects to develop students' 21st century skills. View the Best Practices & Examples section for tips on creating successful projects and links to examples of great projects created by teachers.

How do I create a project?

View the instructions in the Create & Manage Projects section.

How do I add content to a project?

Once you have created a project, use the standard tools to add pages and content. View the Projects: Pages & Tools section for instructions.

Can I view all content in a project?

Project content can be set so that it is only visible to members of the project or visible to the entire ThinkQuest Projects community. The project calendar is visible to members of the project only.

How do I join an existing project?

You can request to join a project if it has Open Membership. View the instructions in the View & Join Projects section.

Can I join a project with Closed Membership?

If a project has Closed Membership, you must be invited to join (if you are a teacher) or assigned by your teacher (if you are a student). Send a message to the Coach if you have a strong interest in joining a project with Closed Membership.

How do I leave a project?

View the instructions in the Project Membership section of Help. If you are a Coach, note that you cannot leave a project unless there is at least one other Coach.

If I leave a project, what happens to any student members in the project?

If there are other teacher members from your school in the project, students from your school will remain as members. However, if you are the only teacher member from your school, all students from your school will automatically be removed from the project when you leave.

Can I save a project on my local computer?

If you are a member of a project, you can download a zip file containing the static HTML, image, and other files that make up the project. The project can then be stored offline on a local computer or hosted on another web server. View instructions in the Download a Project section.
